2023 Awards Banquet
September 07, 2023

During this banquet, the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors recognized several people for outstanding service to our community.

Lt. Morgan Worrell - Officer of the Year

This award was given for Lt. Worrell's dedication to the law enforcement profession and the community. Lt. Worrell displayed outstanding commitment to the community and to Crime Stoppers.

Capt. David Foltz - Meritorious Award

This award was given for Capt. Foltz performing CPR on an individual until the individual could start breathing on their own.

Dep. Dontravious Harrison - Meritorious Award

This award was given for Dep. Harrison's assertive patrol skills, wherein he led the Halifax County Sheriff's Office in the seizures of illegal firearms and getting the weapons out of the hands of criminals.

Rex Barnes - Honorary Deputy Sheriff Award

This award was given to Mr. Barnes for his continued support of the Sheriff's Office and the community.

Hot Dog Lunch Fundraiser
March 31, 2023

Crimestoppers hosted a Hot Dog Lunch Fundraiser Friday, March 31, 2023, from 11 am until 1 pm.

This event was held at 800 Jackson Street in Roanoke Rapids. Plates consisted of 2 hot dogs, chips, and soda or water for only $5.00.

2nd Annual March for Awareness and Unity
March 25, 2023

The Halifax County Crime Stoppers held its 2nd Annual “March for Awareness and Unity” event on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10:00 am.

The event washeld at Centennial Park located at 600 Roanoke Avenue in Roanoke Rapids.

The purpose of this Campaign:

• To bring awareness to the primary purpose of the Halifax County Crime Stoppers, which is to help stop crime by providing an anonymous communication link with local law enforcement agencies and offering rewards in return for needed clues and information necessary for law enforcement agencies to solve major crimes.

• To bring awareness to any unsolved crimes wherein recognition of the incident may lead to providing law enforcement with information that may lead to resolution of their investigation.

• To re-affirm to the families and friends, of the victims of those crimes, that their loved ones are not forgotten.

• To serve as an opportunity to establish a better relationship between law enforcement and the public in which they serve.

The Campaign:

• Allow each participating law enforcement agency to provide a brief overview of any of their missing person cases or unsolved major crimes.

• Allow a family member to make a request to the community to provide any information.

• Allow the public to join the Board of Directors, Law Enforcement Officers, Religious Leaders, Community Leaders, and Family/Friends of the Victims in walking the track to bring awareness to the need for information related to these incidents.

Human Trafficking Event
January 11, 2023

The Halifax County Crime Stoppers will be hosting a Human Trafficking training event scheduled for January 11th, 2023. This event will be held at the Halifax Community College, building 400, Room 401 from 1pm - 5pm, followed by a Public Awareness Event from 6pm - 8 pm.

The training event will be held for any 1st Responders, Hospital Staff, Employees of the Department of Social Services, the Health Department, Churches and Healthcare providers. This training is targeted for professionals working in the fields of law enforcement, health care, education, victim assistance services, counselors, child advocates and the judicial system, however anyone is welcome. This training will be presented by NC Stop Human Trafficking.

During this training, we will have a survivor present their story to the audience. This training will include an opportunity for the audience to have a Question/Answer session with our training staff.

This type of training has never been offered for our community, so anyone interested should plan to attend.

Roanoke Rapids Christmas Parade

The Halifax County Crime Stoppers participated in the 2022 Roanoke Rapids Christmas Parade. Our theme was McGruff caught the Grinch that stole Christmas.

1st Annual March for Awareness and Unity

The purpose of this event was to:

Bring awareness to any unsolved crimes wherein recognition of the incident may lead to providing law enforcement with information that may lead to resolution of their investigation.
To re-affirm to the families and friends, of the victims of those crimes, that their loved ones are not forgotten.
To serve as an opportunity to establish a better relationship between law enforcement and the public in which they serve.

During this event law enforcement gave a brief overview of the unsolved cases and family members and friends of the victims were able to make request to the community to provide any information to assist in solving these crimes.
